Tips on how to keep your room TIDY

Should You Clean Your Teenager's Messy Bedroom?

I think we all have been here, especially girls. Trying to find the perfect outfit for work or college, and next thing you know your room is a bombsite. Makeup ends up all over the floor, you can’t find your hairbrush or your hair bobbles and you just can’t stick it anymore! I have to admit, I have been like this for the past while and it came to the point where enough was enough and I’ve came up with a plan to help me stick to a cleaning/tidying regime! Read on to find out more…

This is a big factor. Lets face it, who wants to start cleaning a room that you have to tiptoe around the mess in?

My tips would be:

1. Watch Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners!

This might sound silly, but I enjoy watching the programme as they people in it are so positive and joyful about cleaning their homes. They also give you handy tips on what cleaning products work best and timing skills they use to keep their home clean as well as having a busy life. I always have the urge to clean after watching it! You can watch this programme on channel 4.

2. Wear suitable clothing

This involves loose fitting, light clothes that you can move in freely and you don’t mind getting dirty. There is no point trying to clean in a pair of skinny jeans and a fancy top, just put it all away and get the cleaning clothes on!

3. Music

I always have motivational music playing in the background or in my earphones to help me keep going. I think when you are cleaning it is better to play the music out loud, I find you have more freedom to move about and really concentrate on what you’re doing. The music might be relaxing, peaceful, pop or r&b, just whatever it is you enjoy shaking your thang too!

4. Have cleaning tools organized

I think it is important to have all your cleaning products organised in one place, maybe this is a cupboard or a box. It means you don’t have to waste time searching for the different items you need. In the box I would keep:

  • Cleaning gloves
  • Dusters
  • Old clothes/rags
  • Cleaning spray for furniture
  • Cleaning spray for mirrors
  • Cleaning products for floors
  • Febreeze and other nice smellies
  • Binbags

Keep the hoover and the mop and bucket in a handy place as well, so you don’t have to struggle bringing them up and down stairs, for example.

5. Fresh bedding

Have nice clean bedding sitting out where you can see it. There is nothing nicer than getting into a freshly made bed. This will give you the motivation to change your sheets more frequently if you can see them sitting in your view.

6. Open a window

Let a bit of air in to your room and breath! Fresh air circulating around a room can make it feel so much fresher, and what better time to do it than when you are sweating your butt off cleaning?

7. Sit back and relax in your clean and calm enviornment

Once you have finished your cleaning spree be sure to have a nice shower, get into your pyjamas and relax with a cup of tea, reading a magazine or watching television. This way you are giving a bit of time to take in all your good efforts and you will feel a lot more calm and less anxious than before.

That is all my tips and tricks guys, feel free to leave a comment 🙂 x
