Mac ‘Well Dressed’ Powder blush review

Why did I purchase this product?

I was looking a blusher for a long time, and didn’t have a clue what one to go for, as I haven’t really cared much about blusher in the past. As it’s getting into the colder months I think it’s nice to have a little glow on the cheeks so this is why I’m reviewing it now!

How much is it?

It is quite pricey at £18. I bought it in Dublin which was in euros and it came to around 25 euros!

What is the colour like?

It’s a very subtle pink colour which is great for a natural look that the cold weather would give you. If you like bright coloured cheeks, this won’t be for you. It is subtle but build-able to a certain amount. It has a shimmery sheen to it that gives a little bit of extra texture to your makeup. It is good for a natural pink cheek look or can be a shimmery party number depending on how you want it. Here is a picture with me wearing it on the apples of my cheeks. (Excuse my face being so close…) As you can see it looks natural but I have made it noticeable.

What is the texture like?

The texture is so soft it feels like velvet! It does feel quite luxurious, but what else can you expect from MAC? It doesn’t look cakey on the cheeks either which is why it looks so natural. Here is a photo with it swatched on my very pale wrist! It does look very natural and see through here, but it does look different over foundation.

Is it worth the money?

I would say, yes it is worth the money. It is expensive but you get what you pay for! If you want a natural looking blusher that is build-able and looks professional and will last you a long time, I would go for this one. Cheaper versions can crumble and you end up not getting the full use out of them, but with this one the packaging is superb and will hold in place forever.

What skin type is it suitable for?

I would say it is suitable for a lot of skin types. I am very pale and I always wear foundation, but if I didn’t I know it would look lovely on my pale skin as well. I think if you are very tanned you might want a slightly more pigmented colour as this one is natural looking and the pink might go unnoticed on some tanned skin.

What would you rate it out of 10?

This blusher gets a 10/10 from me because it is exactly what I like in a blusher. It is natural, buildable, shimmery and so soft on the skin! I would buy this again 100 percent. Below there is an image that shows the colour of this blush well.

I hope you all enjoyed this review and now you can all have those pink cheeks for the cold winter weather :)! Check out this product here if you are interested! x

The winter survival guide

Okay, I am honestly losing the will to live today. I have written this blog post 2 times already and I managed to lose it twice, don’t ask me how because I don’t even know! I think this is a super duper reason you should keep reading and find out what my essential guide to surviving winter is!

Comfy Clothes

I am one of those girls who could live in my pjs if I was allowed! I come home from college or work and get straight into them, they’re just so comforting to me! Since the weather has got cooler and jack frost is starting to nip us ever so slightly, It’s about time we all got ourselves a snuggly, cuddly dressing gown. Yes, this is my number 1 item of clothing for surviving the winter! I find that I often get cold if i’m just in my pj’s and a dressing gown keeps you so snug and toasty! I have looked for some dressing gowns for the winter and I discovered that Jack Wills have their own dressing gowns. This one is super cute and “english” looking, this would be an investment piece to me because it isn’t the cheapest at £89. I love the checkered pattern though as it is very on trend. If you don’t want to spend that much, saying as it is only going to be worn around the house, why not get a super comfy one from Dunnes Stores or Tesco? They are around £10 and are incredibly comfortable!

Food

Lets talk food. My second favourite subject after fashion and beauty (spot the fatty). Okay, so for me, autumn/winter involves a lot of sweetness and a lot of spiciness.  For the nights that  you want to curl up in front of the fire, a big mug of hot chocolate is essential! I would have mine bubbling hot, with melting marshmallows oozing out slowly and a large dollop of cream. Anyone drooling? Hot chocolate is ever so popular now and you can get so many different brands such as Cadbury or Galaxy all from any local food shop. So go on girls, get down to the shop and grab some, your winter nights in will never be the same!

My second food essential might be a little bit biased, as I am a soup lover! It’s the perfect food for cold nights and is quite healthy and filling! My choice of soup flavour for this essential guide is spicy parsnip. Don’t let the name put you off, it tastes amazing! The spicy kick really works well with the sweet parsnips and once you have one bowl, you WILL want another. Girls, give it a try, follow this recipie http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3198/spicy-roasted-parsnip-soup. You won’t be disappointed! It only takes 10 minutes to prepare and 35 minutes to cook, so there’s NO excuses! Fill those bellies with this warm goodness!

Hobbies

The autumn/winter months mean that the nights get darker quicker and colder too, so it gets difficult for us to keep our hobbies up such as running, tennis or walking. My answer to this problem would be joining a health and fitness website such as http://www.resultswithlucy.com/. Her website includes lots of workout videos that are targeted at different parts of your body, so you can easily target any problem areas you have. There is also a food guide you can sign up for which gives you lots of healthy recipes so you know your’re clean eating. It is also quite cheap from only £3 a month, why not spoil yourselves and sign up? There are lots of before and after pictures of clients on her website which are all very impressive too. I am going to state the obvious here and say why not create a blog on a topic you love? It could be based on fashion, beauty, health and fitness, music, books or photography! It is a really fun and easy way to practice your writing skills if that is something you enjoy, as well as a way for you to meet people with the same interest as you. I would also suggest investing in a box set of your all time favourite television programme. By doing this you can watch them all through the winter season to cheer yourself up and keep yourself amused. Hope you enjoyed this survival guide, see you’s on the other side!
